Alternate title: “ If it fits I sits” (because... you know... they’re chairs)
Picked up some chairs for my office from World Market because they were (A) Small (B) Comfortable (C) on crazy sale. Apparently they’re doing UP TO 40% off all furniture (these were 30%) plus 10% off for curbside pickup, so I feel like these were a pretty good deal even if they’re not the best quality.
Either way, damn perfect fit in the back of the Disco. Didn’t even have to fold down the rear seat!
Here is what the chairs look like though IRL they’re a little greener. We needed two small, comfortable chairs in the common area of the home office (yes, first world problems) and these seemed like they’ll fit well. If they don’t we’ll move them into the bedrooms instead.

Box Test!

First, is an emery chair made out of emery boards?
Second, why is the box weight in kilograms, but the volume is in cubic feet? Do they list the dimensions of the box in cubits or hands just to add another system of units.

1) Hopefully not
2) Reasons
Actually I was a little curious after you point it out. Sounds like dimensional weight is a thing shipping companies care about, but that seems to be consistent about units. I could certainly see a situation where the cargo container capacity is measured in cuft but the max shipping weight for the ship is in kg. (Assuming these travel in a container by boat)
But yeah... that is weird now that you’ve pointed it out.

How are things going with the bikes?

Pretty OK! I haven’t been out for a ride since I got back in town on Wednesday. Mostly been working on the Ironman and hanging out with the dogs . Rebuild has been slow going as the bike is pretty tight and very crusty. Whatever grease they used seems to have turned into a solid. A sticky, sticky solid.
Since I’ve been back I g ot the rear freewheel rebuilt, the wheel bearings replaced, shift cables replaced, crank bearings replaced, new pedals installed, new tubes and tires installed, new chain on, and uhhhhh oh I just cleaned and repacked the headset bearings (didn’t feel like waiting on replacements and they looked fine) and gave the bike a good wash. Still need to install the new seat, brake cables, brake pads, hoods, and bar tape. I’m either going to finish it up tonight or tomorrow. Thinking I might just get a shower and a beer instead....
Also have some wiring to do on the trip computer but that can wait.

Arg ok glad I checked. Went to do the brake cables and apparently I don’t have any. Oops. Thought I had some in stock! Also looks like I forgot to order new hoods and the Shimano R600 brake levers on there are old enough that replacements aren’t readily available. Found some that should work but they’re out of stock on Amazon. Weird. Debating going to the snooty LBS tomorrow as they’re the only ones open on Sunday... or just wait it out until Tuesday...

I hate it when that happen! When it’s just cables, I’ve been known to go grab the cheap cables from Walmart for use until the good ones come in the mail. They work fine as long as you don’t let things get wet. Do that and they’ll rust overnight.

Sounds like excellent progress is being made! I spent the day in the shop. I need to get my router going, but I need my table mounted, but I need a perfectly straight line cut, but I need a new fence for the table saw to cut it. I spent too many hours working through that little problem. But a day in the shop is better than a day in the office!
